Family History Information

Compiled by Tomilynn E. Willits McManus, PHQ, PSG
Curator, International Center for Job’s Daughters

Through the years many individuals, including myself, have sought information about Mrs. Mick’s family history.  This information has come from a variety of sources including publications of the Supreme Guardian Council, such as the History of the International Order of Job’s Daughters, as well as reminiscences by individuals who knew Mrs. Mick personally, as found on this site under History.  It is not easy to separate fact from fiction – and it is often very difficult to ascertain the accuracy of even legal documents, especially if they are incomplete, e.g., when census records are transferred to microfilm and a page is inadvertently overlooked, or when handwritten church records are computerized and the reader has skipped a line, or, as is very common, a census taker has misspelled a name.  Tracing family histories is also very time-consuming and dead ends are more frequently encountered than avenues of research that mint gold mines of new and valuable information.  However, all of these challenges make the quest of the genealogist – whether amateur or professional – all the more interesting.  With that spirit in mind, this site will include selections – identified as documented or undocumented – that provide insight into Mrs. Mick’s family history and the reader is welcome to contact the Curator regarding same.
